MUSEUM OF ARTS AND DESIGN Constructed Images: Intersection of Sculpture and Photography
The ISC kicked off its inaugural ISConnects event, Constructed Images: Intersection of Sculpture and Photography at the Museum of Arts and Design on Saturday, September 17, 2011. The event added a new level of exploration to MAD’s Otherworldly exhibit with an exhibition viewing that allowed attendees to see and discuss the work with several of the participating artists.
Following the viewing, participants entered the MAD Theater, which provided the perfect setting for the panel discussion, moderated by ARTnews Editor, Barbara MacAdam. The panel, featuring NYU Professor Shelley Rice; art writer & critic, Edward M. Gómez; and Otherworldly artists Lori Nix, Thomas Doyle, as well as artist Oliver Herring, investigated the unusual merger of photography with sculpture. Artists, administrators, and art lovers united afterwards for a cocktail reception in the museum lobby.
