Keynote Speakers

Bernar Venet**Canceled**

***Due to health issues that prevent his travel from Europe, Bernar Venet will no longer be able to join us as the keynote speaker for the 2013 International Sculpture Symposium: International Dialogue. Mr. Venet sends his deep regrets, and we apologize for this change of plans. We request that ISC Symposium attendees join us at 5:15pm in front of the Auckland Art Gallery for our opening event, the traditional powhiri welcome, followed by a private reception at the AAG. We look forward to seeing you there, and beginning what promises to be a fantastic event.***

Bernar Venet, born in 1941 in the south of France and based in New York since 1966, has been an international leader of Conceptual Art in painting, sculpture and concrete music composition for more than three decades. As early as 1974 he was teaching at the Sorbonne in Paris. Venet is the recipient of major awards and France's highest decoration, the Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur, in 2005. The artist has fulfilled numerous public art commissions, including in Cologne, Japan, Norway, Luxembourg, New York and Chicago. Venet is currently represented by New Zealand’s Gow Langsford Gallery. You will be able to see Mr. Venet’s work at The Farm.
