I aim to imbue my work with life, as if it has grown into existence rather than being built by man. Using an assortment of biomorphic shapes and characteristics, I create pieces with outstretched stems, creases, and folds. They suggest young plants sprouting berries and buds while some are simply mounds with tubers and grasses growing forth. Surfaces span from course and dull to shiny and plump, with an assortment of colors and some fading off into white. Parts appear to grow out of one another suggesting natural processes, while the craftsmanship leaves no obvious hand on the work. I hope to promote positive interactions with the pieces as if they were discovered by the viewer in the natural world. Hidden function encourages this exploration and alludes to inner potential.
