For over 20 years, I have been designing and fabricating sculptural commissions arising from site-specific parameters. Collaborating with other professionals, including architects, engineers, landscape architects,
contractors, and involved community members, I strive to complete projects that are on time and to the budget.
I have been described as possessing “a fluent understanding of a wide variety of materials, with the construction sensibility of an architect, the technical skill of a craftsman, and the conceptual component
of an artist.” All of my projects involve a high degree of skill, as I believe the use of master craftspeople embeds man’s formative evolution between material and the mind/hand experience. A thing well made is enjoyed and respected by all.
My sculptural solutions are visually strong and scaled appropriately to site to have an impact from a distance, so as to become a landmark, that over time serves to aide visitors and locals in creating a usable and compelling point of reference for the community. The details of the design should also inspire a dialogue at close range. I spend time and thought connecting to a community before conceptualizing a project, so my work tends to relate imagery that is part of the community’s history and culture and, in details, give a depth that adds to a visitor’s glimpse of the local perspective. Many of the projects have involved the use of water and of materials such as granite, stainless steel, and galvanized steel that is suited to all exterior environmental conditions with minimal maintenance required.
