Beth Ann Morrison lives and works in Los Angeles, CA, a recent transplant from her longtime home near New York City.  Her work has been shown in galleries and museums throughout the Northeast region and abroad since 1996.  Recent featured exhibitions include Process on Governors Island, NYC, Artists in Dialogue with Landscape at Adkins Arboretum, MD, and the solo installation, “Fear Not, My Love” at Aferro Gallery in Newark, NJ.  Ms. Morrison has also shown at the Newark Museum, Saks Fifth Avenue, Stockholm’s Supermarket Art Fair and the Evergreen House at Johns Hopkins University, among many other institutions.  Her first large solo exhibition was presented at Seton Hall University’s Walsh Library Gallery in 2008, “one breath” for which she was awarded a Puffin Foundation Grant and a residency at Aferro Studios.  Ms. Morrison relocated to attend artist Suzanne Lacy’s Public Practice MFA program at Otis College of Art and Design on scholarship, to transition her studio work into the public realm, merged with her desire to encourage sustainable community.

Morrison works in collaboration with materials, space and the subconscious.  Her forms are compilations of complex observations processed by touch, gravity and chance.  Akin to the content of dreams, these objects and spaces are somehow familiar yet undeniably alien.  She doesn’t want to convince you – Morrison wants her work to be matter of fact.
