THE BENCH PEOPLE AT MONTROSE LIBRARY
1998
1 at 6’ x 4’ x 3’ and 3 at 3’ x 6’ x 3’
Indiana Limestone

Montrose Regional Library, Montrose, Colorado $40,000 This sculpture consists of four independent, interactive sculptures; one vertical figure and three reclining figures. These were my first ‘Bench People’ and were designed to reflect the many positions people assume when reading. This became the start of a series of interactive sculpture created to give people an outlet to experience art in a comfortable surrounding that allows them to touch and explore the work – unlike the restricted setting of a museum.
