Shan Shan Sheng

Ocean Wave I & II,
2007, Port of Miami

Installed forty feet above one of the busiest cruise terminals in the world, Sheng’s commissioned work, Wave I & II, can be viewed at Cruise Terminal D, Port of Miami. Spanning a length of over 200 feet and 45 feet wide, the piece is made up of 90 individual glass panels to form an immense swirling pattern of tranquil blues and deep magentas that resemble the soothing ebb and flow of the tide. True to her vision to integrate life and art, Wave I & II, like her other public art works, not only enhances and transforms the space, but radiates energy and harmony that she hopes can exist between people and the environment, in a place where all cultures come together.
