US 101

16' diameter x 1' tall
Rubber

Found highway tire rubber, stainless steel. In a storm-like spiral 16 feet in diameter, this piece came from concerns about our dependence on our web of transportation, electricity and money for survival. In the USA, we no longer individually provide ourselves with the basic survival necessities of food, clothing and shelter. US 101 is about the basics of our culture, and the endless cycle of consumption and production, earning and spending all to provide indirectly for our basic survival, supporting human existence by a vital but vulnerable web of consumer-based interdependence.
