Red Square
2008
300x150x150cm, carpet 6x5m
Mixed Media

The work Red Square summarizes the spirit of a generation: elements of intense iconographic value the Square metaphorically summed up in the woof of the big red carpet and the polychromatic spire of the Basil Cathedral merge, minimizing the evocative aspirations, with the size of the souvenir, of the boule neige, reducing the historical memory to little more than a memory on a dusty shelf. Experiences and aspirations of a wounded world meet and crash on the clash and metal notes of a national anthem that, with melancholic repetition, tries to celebrate a glorious past and an uncertain future.
