Artist Statement

I am inspired by interactions between the body and autonomic processes, especially respiration. My work attempts to activate perception of those processes in a visual way through glass. Some of my sculptures manipulate the refraction index of glass immersed in oil to appear invisible, others harness diffused light to a central focal point. I consider how people comprehend the world, how technology affects understanding, and how our lives are altered by an oversaturation of technology.
